Looking for 2 travelbuddy's Vancouver to Ushuaia Argentina!

Hello travelers,

Im a dutch guy 29 years and going to drive to south america, Currently im staying and working in Whistler. I'll start the trip in the first week of April. I own a Pontiac Montana from 2004 and have been driven around Canada&Alaska sinds may 2012. My trip started in newfoundland and drove to Alaska and then to Vancouver. All togheter 34.000km without breakdowns. Also did many offroads with it in yukon&Alaska and went without problems so far. I also sleep inside the car to safe accomodation costs and to keep traveling cheap. I overnight mostly at beache's national parks, parking area's,restarea's etc. I love nature and do hike allot to see animals forests and just to be out there! Also like to see culture and love to taste the lokal food in every country:-) I do have traveled more overland for the last 5 years so have experience in that and I also did research for this trip for the last 5 month's. To know about bordercrossings, shipping the car from panama to Colombia and what to visit offcourse:). My goal is to arrive in argentina somewhere around dec/jan so the trip is gonna take about 9 month's. But you can also join parts of the trip! I have space for 2 extra people where I would like to share lots of fun, experience's and yeah the fuell with:-) with. Do you have similar plans and want to join the ride let me know, im flexible for other plans!

Hope to hear from you soon so we can catch up and talk about the trip! Also if any questions mail me!

Cheers Marijn

Driving the Panamerican highway to Tierra del Fuego

I'm driving my Ford Focus in that direction too :) I'm already in Mexico, I drove the first part of the road in the fall, and I'll be leaving here around April/May. I want to be in Tierra del Fuego in December at the latest. Maybe we could convoy for part of the trip. You'll probably catch up with me at some point. Send me a message if you're interested.

Hello Josianne and Marijn from Los Angeles, CA

Hello to both of you.  I have been planning this trip myself as well, and I also was thinking of taking my own vehicle, a 2006 Honda Element.  I suppose I am flexible on that; I had not really thought about being the person who was riding in someone else's car.  I wonder if we could work something out!  My wife supports me on making this trip, but she is not able to go herself right now.  She will probably come to visit me once or twice while I am on the road.  I had planned to be on the road for 6-9 months, and I  wanted to make it all the way to Brazil.

I recently completed my own "trial" road trip all the way down Baja California, Mexico and had a great time.  I am ready for the big trip!  I have maps, guide books, and I am working on things like vaccinations, health insurance, inter-American driving permit, etc.  I am fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.

You can reach me at nwc01 at yahoo, or nwc001 on Skype or text / sms at +1 3 ten 567 eight 1 six 8.  I am also on Couch Surfing at nwc001.

Hi both of you!

Hi both of you!

What about we keep in touch and see where we meet up? I have no real plans and the rain is usually not really bad until July. I was looking at maybe shipping my car RORO from Costa Rica to Ecuador because it seems a lot cheaper. I think the boats are not going very often though, one every month or so. Let's see how the timing is when I/we get there. I'm also fluent in Spanish and working at my Portuguese. I also plan on going to Brazil, after Tierra del Fuego. But that's a long way from here, so we'll see!

Let's keep in touch!

Hi, Tought the ships were

Hi, Tought the ships were going more often no? What info do you have about costarica to Ecuador? How much does that cost? I've been reading and know that if you dont put your car in a container you cant lock your car as they have to drive them from the ship. And its very common that they break in the car while its on the ship. RoRo is not in a container right? I thougt to ship my car from Colon to Cartagena its about $1200 in container. paperwork take's 2/3 day's. We should keep in touch and inform eachother about the possibility's to know what the options are. cheers! Nick Maybe we can catch up somewere in California or Arizona Im planning to cross the border in Nogales and drive allong the pasific coast down to Guatemala. I also plan to do a spanish cours there as my spanish is not that good yet hehe. Also need some more time there to get my carrego extension send from canada. cant extend it now only 15 months ahead what means the 31 of may.... Josianne you probably know about that because I got a car from Quebec... Its still far ahead so yea we will see where and when we meet up. Cheers

New rules.

Hi Alejandro:OHh our friends of lifermotely.com, we help those guys. Im from EverLogistics

We improve a lot of thing since then.

Check our blog www.crossingpanama.blogspot.com

Well they explain very weel the process and gave some tips about the paperworks to do.

Well something that you sould know is tha when you will do the DIJ inspection you need to have the Booking Confirmation

document. This is new they improve that just like a 1 month ago.

IF anyone feel that need and agent to do this process or need a partner for sharing let me know. and write to my email

top check our service offer and cost. We will give you complete info about the cost here in Panama and Colombia.

And check your temporary permit carefully, check that have the correct data, because at the minimun mistake the DIJ wont accept it.
